Squatch Watch: LIVE is a live performance podcast presented by Merrigong Theatre Co as part of their Emerging Artists program, performed at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre from the 25th to 27th of September, 2025.

 

The show follows the journey of a smalltime cryptozoology podcast unraveling the mystery around Australia's most elusive cryptid - the Yowie, our own local version of the Bigfoot. No matter how seriously the group of podcasters take their theories, the absurdity of their methods give way to comedy, chaos and the constant threat of imminent disaster.

As both an actor and sound designer, working on this show for me was a delicate balancing act of maintaining different priorities. Having to relearn how to act and improvise live on stage while ensuring that the sound and tech for the show ran smoothly in the background was definitely a challenge, but it was a rewarding one.

The show is currently preparing for a return as part of the 2026 Sydney Fringe Festival, slated for performance at PACT Theatre.
