Fraser Anning served as a Senator in the Australian Federal Parliament from late 2017 to early 2019, initially representing the One Nation Party of Pauline Hanson but ultimately creating his own party.

 

In his maiden speech to parliament, in August 2018, he deliberately courted scandal and promoted his brand of far-right extremism by denouncing what he described as the dominance of “cultural Marxism” in our public institutions, calling for a return to the “White Australia Policy” in immigration, and promoting a referendum as “the final solution” to the “problem” of Muslim immigrants. 

 

In this work, Fraser Anning’s rhetoric is de-coupled from his blatantly racist politics: his voice becomes an ambient drone and his words float in space. While originally written for double bass and electronic backing track, the attached version of the piece is adapted for solo electronics.
