POLYP

Polyp is a piece written for piano, guitar and guzheng. Throughout the work the ensemble drifts in free time, with the performers colliding and spiralling together. The piece’s tonal structure evolves in a similarly free and unbound way, shifting between singing pentatonic chords, angular tone rows and drifting microtonal passages. In this way, the instruments flow through time and tonalities like polyps strewn about by waves and currents.
